Walkers Gluten Free Pure Butter Shortbread

Sometimes all I want is a cookie.  That’s it.  One single cookie.  It does not need to have a lot of sugar or be oversized.  No frosting is needed and it does not have to have a lot of additional ingredients.  What I am usually looking for is shortbread.  It is a simple cookie that tastes good, and that is all I want.
At Woodman’s my mother and I found a long existing shortbread company that now makes their cookies in a gluten-free version. Walkers Gluten Free Pure Butter Shortbread has very few ingredients but a great taste. The cookies come in three different flavors. I have only tried the regular shortbread, but it also comes in Chocolate Chip and Ginger & Lemon. All three flavors can be found at Woodman’s as well as ordered from the Walkers Shortbread website, us.walkersshortbread.com.

Tres Latin Foods Pupusas

You never know where you’re going to find a new gluten-free product.  This time I have to give Guy Fieri and his show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives credit.  If I had not seen him visit a restaurant where pupusas were their specialty, I may not have given them a second look.
On a Saturday morning not long ago, I was shopping at Outpost Natural Foods and saw one of the special items of the week was Tres Latin Foods Pupusas.  Located in the freezer section, I was surprised to see pupusas at all.  Then I saw they were gluten-free and that was a bonus.
I brought them home and found the pupusas were good and easy to make.  Available in five different flavors, the flavor I tried was the Green Chili & Cheese.  It came with a slaw recipe on the box as a suggestion of what to serve with the pupusas.

OMG…It’s Gluten Free Lasagna

Fast and easy dinners are something everyone looks for at one time or another.  If they didn’t, there would not be so many ready-made dinner options in the grocery stores.  These meals make life easier for when there is little time to cook or when there is zero desire to do so.  This does not mean that when time is short anything will do.  The dinner still has to taste good and feel as though a lot of time was taken to make it, even when it wasn’t.
OMG…It’s Gluten Free has gluten-free lasagnas that are already made and only need to be put in the oven for a short time to bake.  It’s a quick dinner for when you’re on the run or don’t feel like messing up the kitchen in an effort to make lasagna on your own.
So far I have only personally seen OMG…It’s Gluten Free Lasagnas at Woodman’s, but the company has a search option on their website to find where else their products are available.

Beanitos Puffs

                This is Beanitos Revisited.
Awhile ago we brought to your attention the Beanitos brand of chips.  Now, after a trip to Woodman’s, we have discovered Beanitos has created a new snack to munch on.  It is Beanitos Puffs.  Available in three flavors; White Cheddar, Hot Chili Lime, and Real Cheesy; the puffs are good flavor snacks with a crunch.  And yes, you do get orange fingers when you eat them.
Look for Beanitos Puffs at Woodman’s.

Bruschetta at Transfer Pizzeria Café

There is a debate going on over the proper way to pronounce the word “bruschetta”.  Everyone has their own thoughts on the subject and there are good arguments on all sides as to why one pronunciation should be used over the others.  I have discovered, that amongst all this debate, one thing always remains the same.  Bruschetta is tasty, no matter how it is pronounced.
At Transfer Pizzeria Café there are three different kinds of bruschetta on the menu.  The Bruschetta does not have any meat or seafood on it while the Bruschetta Salami has salami and the Bruschetta Salmone has salmon.  All three can be made gluten-free which makes them great appetizers for the gluten-free pizza.
The menu for Transfer Pizzeria Café, as well as information about their gluten-free items, can be found on their website transfermke.com.

Good Natured Selects Baked Multigrain Crisps

It has become apparent that even though we are watching our weight and health we still love what the world calls junk food.  But does it mean that these snacks have to be bad for us?  No, because today we have many healthy alternatives.
A new one we found is from Good Natured Selects.  They are making baked multi-grain crisps in three flavors that are gluten-free.  The flavors are: Original Grains, Tuscan Garden Medley, and Cheddar Cheese.  We found the crisps at Woodman’s.

Gluten-Free on a Shoestring Bakes Bread: Biscuits, Bagels, Buns, and More by Nicole Hunn

Thanks to The Great British Baking Show, I have become absolutely fascinated with baking.  This is especially true with bread, for some reason.  With this new found interest, I decided to look for different bread baking books on the library website.  That is where I came across Gluten-Free on a Shoestring Bakes Bread: Biscuits, Bagels, Buns, and More.  It seemed interesting and I reserved the book not knowing what I was going to get once it arrived.
I got a lot.  First are the recipes for the gluten-free flour blends.  Then there are the different bread loaves.  After that it is a huge amount of goodies.  I’m not talking about just sweet things, but all those things we come across that we have to wonder about whether or not they are gluten-free.  I’m talking about tortillas, muffins, pancakes, garlic knots, pizza doughs, pita bread, and crepes.  Those are just some of the recipes in this book.  Then on top of that, the back section has more recipes suggesting how you can use the bread you have baked.  That is, of course, if it hasn’t all been eaten yet.  Bread does not always last long in my house.
As I mentioned, I borrowed this book from the library.  It’s a great way to take some time with a book before deciding whether or not it is one you want to own.  If you’re ready to purchase Gluten-Free on a Shoestring Bakes Bread, it can be ordered from Boswell Book Company as well as Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
